The Bloods cruised through to the next round with this convincing victory over their higher-ranked opponents.

The visitors’ plight was not helped by the rather harsh dismissal of their goalkeeper, Ed Wilczynski on 26 minutes, but by that time Droylsden had already created numerous chances.

Ciaran Kilheeney had put Ben Deegan through with a clever short pass, and the Bloods’ striker just nicked the ball past Wilczynski, whose own challenging leg then connected with Deegan’s ankles as the Droylsden man found himself in on goal but at a tight angle.  Few would have disputed that a penalty should be awarded, but many though the the accompanying red card was tough on the Trafford keeper.

Ex-Blodd, Lewis Chalmers took the gloves, and his first job was to pick the ball out of the net from Kilheeney’s resultant penalty.

Two minutes later and it was 2-0, as Adam Morning collected a high cross from Fernando Moke to roll the ball back to Deegan to smack home, and Morning himself cracked in a third just before the break.

Sean Myler was fouled just outside the box on 53 minutes, and Moke curled a beauty of a free kick in at the far post to make it 4-0, and four became five on 77 minutes when Ben Hampson beat the Trafford offside trap, but Chalmers saved well – however, Ali Brown was on hand to drill home the loose ball, and Moke concluded a horrible night for the men from Shawe View when he rounded Chalmers to roll home at the death.
