KENDAL TOWN 1 – 0 DROYLSDEN

EvoStik Northern Premier League – Division One (North)

Saturday 24January 2015

Droylsden’s poor run of form since New Year’s Day continued with this disappointing defeat in Cumbria.

Both sides struggled to create many meaningful chances, so it was always going to be a tight affair.

Jordan Connerton shot straight at Russell Saunders, but the Droylsden goalkeeper soon had his palms stung by the lively Dave Swarbrick.

Swarbrick then turned provider with a neat flicked pass to Craig Carney, but his shot was inches wide as he was closed-down by Saunders and Ben McNamara.

Swarbrick again went close for the hosts before the half drew to a close.

Droylsden were quicker out of the blocks in the second period, and enjoyed some good spells of pressure, but with no end product, and their failure to score when on top was ultimately punished as Gregg Johnstone swept home at the near post from a low right wing cross.

The Bloods finally managed to register some shots on target, but Liam Bleeker held on to Peter Dogun’s deflected effort, and Andrew Fowler’s strike was saved by the Kendal stopper in added time, with Droylsden leaving Parkside empty handed.
