EvoStik Northern Premier League – Division One (North)

Brig’s play-off hopes suffered a set-back as Droylsden completed a league double in appalling conditions.

Things started well for the visitors as Daniel Mahoney put them ahead from the penalty spot, but Fernando Moke poked home an equaliser barely a minute later.

Sam Hillhouse then beat two to set up Michael Monaghan to put The Bloods ahead, and it was soon 3-1, but in bizarre fashion.  Mahoney lofted the ball back to Lee Dovey, who slipped and the ball rolled over the line for an own goal.

Alistair Waddecar reduced the arrears shortly after the break, and Brig pushed hard for the equaliser, with Waddecar hitting the post, but Ciaran Kilheeney broke away to make it 4-2 on 90 minutes, with Glenn Steel bundling home Brig’s third deep into added time.
