Emirates FA Cup – Second Round, Qualifying

Saturday 26 September 2015

A goal in each half saw the hosts through, but on another day Lancaster would have taken something from the game.

A sweet first time Brandon Zibakanear post volley off the underside of the bar put Droylsden ahead.

City responded well with Reece Pearce and Billy Akrigg both forcing good saves from Craig Ellison.  However, at the other end, Steve Hall was upended, but Hale held on to a poor spot kick from the same man, which was the third penalty that Droylsden had missed in three consecutive games!

Akrigg then volleyed over from a good position for City, but on the hour mark, Zibaka shot on the turn, and Fernando Moke stabbed home the rebound.

Hannu Tam should have halved the arrears, but could only shoot straight at Ellison, and the Droylsden stopper also denied Matthew Poole despite penalty claims from the visitors.

The draw for the next round has been kind to The Bloods in terms of a home venue, but the opponents are Conference North outfit, and old foes, Gainsborough Trinity – who are sure to provide a stiff test.
