TRAFFORD 3 – 0 DROYLSDEN

Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup - FirstRound

Tuesday 6 October 2015

BY GARY OWEN

The Bloods bowed-out of their second cup competition in three days, thanks to a blistering twelve minute first half spell from Trafford, which blew Dave Pace’s men away.

Whilst the boss was getting some rays overseas, Aeon Lattie took charge of the team, and they began brightly as Brandon Zibaka was inches away from poking past Luke Pilling – who is, bizarrely also on loan from Tranmere Rovers.

His Prenton Park colleague, Sam Ramsbottom, then produced a world class save at the other end to deny a certain goal from Jack Dorney.  Ramsbottom saved again from a Dorney effort, but this time the ball fell right into the path of Joe Shaw to tap home.

Ramsbottom again saved, this time from Phil Dean, before the lively Trafford forward rounded Droylsden’s keep only for Eddy Dryden to produce a super tackle to deny the striker his brace.

However, Trafford did double their lead from an error by Ramsbottom, when he fumbled a far post header form that man Dorney again, with the ball dropping into his own net.

Trafford’s third came thanks to an excellent reverse pass by Kyle Jacobs in to Chris Palmer, who’s low cross was turned into his own net by Jacob Wood.

Pilling was called into action at the other end to tip a Cameron Lyn fizzing effort on to the bar and over, but Trafford were soon back on the attack, with Dryden clearing of his line to deny Danny Lambert following a great run.

After the break, ex-Blood Lee Rick beat the offside trap and curled the ball goalwards, but Joe Mullen hacked off the line.

Droylsden enjoyed better possession in the second period, and Fernando Moke should have done better than blaze wide from 8 yards, but a combination of Trafford subs and the hosts taking their foot off the gas helped Droylsden impose themselves more, but Trafford never looked in an y real danger of losing the match once those first half goals went in.
