DROYLSDEN 0 – 9 WARRINGTON TOWN

EvoStik NPL Division One (North)

Tuesday 8 March 2016

By Gary Owen

Three former Bloods were on the scoresheet, including a hat-trick for Ciaran Kilheeney, as the division’s champions elect ran amok at the Butcher’s Arms.

The Bloods were four down inside the opening half hour, mainly down to defensive errors being punished.  First culprit was Jacob Wood, who was robbed by Kilheeney, who forced Lewis Fielding into a save, only for Chris Gahgan to tap home.

Moments later and it was “take two”, as this time Ged Murphy was at fault, but Ben Deegan benefitted from another Kilheeney effort only being palmed away by Fielding.

Deegan then cleverly dummied a Scott Metcalf cross for Gahgan to score his brace, and just before the break it was Matty Burke’s turn for the naughty step, gifting possession to Deegan, who forced Fielding into a save, but Ali Brown volleyed home.

Gahgan made it six with his hat-trick on 52 minutes following good work by Metcalf and Kilheeney, and that is how it remained until three minutes from time, when Phil Dean made it 7-0, before two goals in added time from Kilheeney, one from the penalty spot, made it 9-0 to The Wire.
