DROYLSDEN 1 - 5 TRAFFORD

FACupFirst Round, QualifyingSaturday 14 September 2013

by Gary Owen

Trafford cruised past a hapless Droylsden thanks to a five goal haul from striker Shelton Payne.

For long periods, The Bloods were second best in many areas of the pitch, and can have few complaints about the scoreline, which saw them crash out of the prestigious competition at the first hurdle for the second successive season.Payne’s first goal came half-way through the first period, as the ball took a slight deflection to beat YannickNlate from the edge of the box.

However, his second had quality stamped all over it, when he collected the ball just inside the Droylsden half, and left Daryl Grant in his wake with blistering pace before finding the bottom corner past Nlate.

Droylsden began the second period well, with some probing of the visitors’ defence, but Payne notched his hat-trick when Carlos Rouse-Edmondson dallied on the ball, enabling Lewis Lacy to rob him and set-up the Trafford forward who made no mistake.

The hosts pulled one back through PoryaAhmadi, who headed home a corner off the underside of the bar, but Trafford restored their three-goal advantage when EnisFermino tried to play his way out from the back, and he was robbed to enable Payne to score his and Trafford's fourth.Payne added his fifth, before

Droylsden's day was summed-up as Tom Read saved Dylan Moloney's poor spot kick, but Trafford – who also twice struck the woodwork – deservedly progressed.
