Evo-Stik NPL, Saturday 21 September 2013
by Gary Owen
Another heavy defeat sees Dave Pace's charges slump to the bottom of the league, and on this display they can have few complaints.
Actually, it was Droylsden who should have taken the lead inside the opening ten minutes, when Rob Kinsella beat the home side's offside trap, but his first touch was too heavy, making Rob Peet favourite, and Porya Ahmadi's follow-up shot was blocked.
The remainder of the half was dominated by the hosts, who took the lead just after the half hour when Joe Maguire headed highest to head James Reid's cross beyond Nlate.
Reid himself then put the Robins in the driving seat with a great goal a minute before the break, collecting the ball on the right flank, before stepping inside, beting two Bloods' defenders, and firing low into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
Droylsden's taks became almost impossible when they were reduced to ten men on the hour, Kinsella seeing red for a dangerous challenge on Callum Chettle.
Five minutes later, and Droylsden were three behind when Daryl Grant elected to head the ball almost out of Nlate's hands, and the ball flew over the Droylsden keeper and intot he unguarded net.
Reid added his second when he stepped inside Grant and beat Nlate with another effort into the same corner, but Droylsden pulled a gola back with 15 minutes remaining. Dylan Maloney went in one-on-one with Peet, and the loose ball fell to Ahmadi, who clipped the ball over those two players and into the goal.
Ilkeston added a fifth in added time, when Jason Stokes benfitted from sloppy play by Nlate and Ryan Hibbert to score from a tight angle.
