 Droylsden were ultimately taken apart at high flying Skelmersdale, but only after they were reduced to ten men for most of the second half. Up to that point, The Bloods were very much in this game, although it was the high-flying home side who dominated possession.

 The Bloods were cruelly dumped out of this season’s competition thanks to a soft penalty awarded just four minutes from time with the two teams locked at 2-2, but despite there being five goals, Droylsden never held the lead. On a positive note, this was the first time this season that The Bloods had scored more than one goal in ay game.

Although it remains difficult to see where Droylsden’s first win will come from, the effort of the players cannot be doubted. Despite falling behind to an early goal, that looked suspiciously offside, Dave Pace’s men never gave up, and for long periods in the second half posed several questions of their fellow strugglers.
