For all their possession and despite holding a two goal advantage with 14 minutes remaining, Droylsden failed to see out this match and enabled their lower-ranked opponents to put in a late rally, and then steal the tie with great composure on the resultant penalty kicks.  Bloods’ boss Dave Pace gave starts to a number of fringe players, but there should have been sufficient quality on the pitch to do the job of progressing into the next round, but it wasn’t to be.

Droylsden lost ground at the top of the table following this lacklustre performance against a well drilled and, at time, quite slick Farlsey outfit, which ended The Bloods’ five match winning streak in all competitions.
